A review of inverse methods in seismic site characterization

چکیده

Abstract Seismic site characterization attempts to quantify seismic wave behavior at a specific location based on near-surface geophysical properties, for the purpose of mitigating damage caused by earthquakes. In recent years, techniques estimating properties using observations recorded surface have become an increasingly popular alternative invasive methods. These include surface-wave phenomenology such as dispersion (velocity-frequency relationship) well as, more recently, full waveforms. Models are estimated from these data via inversion, that they reproduce observed observations. A wide range inverse problems been considered in characterization, applying variety mathematical solution. vary with respect type, algorithmic complexity, computational expense, physical dimension, and ability quantitatively estimate uncertainty This paper presents review common inversion strategies applied studies, focus associated advantages/disadvantages advancements.
